Headway Surrey is an independent registered charity, which has existed since 1985. It supports adults over 18 in Surrey with acquired brain injury and their families. The services aim to support those impacted by the life long issue of brain injury to become as independent as possible, to understand their injury and to learn how to adapt to their new life and if possible return to work or part-time work. Acquired brain injury, ABI includes stroke and traumatic injury: eg. heart attack, encephalitis, aneurysm, meningitis, hypoxia (lack of oxygen to the brain), tumour, etc. It can also be from a traumatic brain injury: eg. road traffic incident, sporting injury, work injury, assault, combat, domestic violence, trip, slip, fall, flying objects and falling objects, etc. Services include: helpline, day centre workshops, one to one specialist sessions, young peoples group, counselling, family and carers toolkit course, understanding brain injury course, walking and talking groups, online coffee mornings, monthly drop ins, hospital liaison work and brain injury ID cards. Annual running costs are just over £250,000 per annum and the charity has to raise 55% of this by fundraising.
With Kwil, you can create your own legally binding will or a couples will, with absolutely nothing to pay. All we ask is that you leave us a donation. Anything left to the charity will be exempt from Inheritance Tax and will help the charity no end.
